The Buckinghamshire & Milton Keynes Rural Transport Partnership (RTP) was launched in April 2000 and is part of the Government's scheme to develop transport in rural areas.
The RTP is administered by the Countryside Agency and a multi-agency steering group including Buckinghamshire Community Action, Buckinghamshire County Council, Milton Keynes Council, Buckinghamshire Lifelong Learning Partnership, Aylesbury Vale District Council, Chiltern District Council, South Bucks District Council and Wycombe District Council. The aim of the Rural Transport Partnership is to enhance rural transport services, to reduce social exclusion and to secure long-term improvement in the accessibility of jobs, services and leisure activities to people living in rural areas, without increasing the use of the private car.
The Partnership is an exciting initiative featuring the potential benefits of county-based working whilst still maintaining a local focus.

The first stage was completed when an Action Plan was submitted to the Countryside Agency for approval. Six projects have been approved and each began in one or two areas and will eventually be rolled out throughout Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes.
