The Alternative Transport Guide is now being distributed. The guide is available in libraries, mobile libraries, doctors surgeries, health centres, community groups, post offices etc. Copies may also be ordered via the Publications page of this web site. The Internet version is available at www.alt-transport.org.uk and is regularly updated.
The Dial-a-Ride project provides additional training for drivers and passenger helpers, and updating of systems as required. Funding to enable the Dial-a-Ride services to operate cross-boundary routes is also available, making visits to hospitals etc easier for passengers.
Dial-a-Rides are friendly door to door services which provide transport for the elderly, frail, physically disabled and people with mental health problems or learning disabilities. Transport is also provided for people who have a temporary disability such as a broken leg or women in the late stages of pregnancy. The Dial-a-Ride vehicles are specially adapted and fitted with wheelchair lifts. Dial-a-Rides help people who are unable, or find it difficult, to use other forms of public transport. Aylesbury Vale Dial-a-Ride alone transports nearly 20,000 passengers each year.
Contact details for all Dial-a-Ride projects can be found on our Alternative Transport Guide web-site.
The Milton Keynes Redways map is now available. For a copy, please telephone Milton Keynes Council 01908 691691.
